New England Donor Services

We are so very proud of New England Donor Services Volunteer Liz Sandeman who last night received the national Donate Life America 2022 Ambassador Award!

The annual Ambassador Award honors the nation’s outstanding Donate Life ambassador/volunteer. Liz accepted the recognition at a celebratory dinner during the annual Donate Life America annual conference in Pittsburgh, PA.

Liz began promoting donation when her sister “T” was in need of a lifesaving lung transplant. While accepting the award in front of over 200 conference attendees, Liz said, “I don’t want another family to lose a loved one simply because there are not enough registered organ donors. This is why I raise awareness for organ and tissue donation.”

Thank you Liz for all of your extraordinary efforts to promote donation! Congratulations!

Cal Hobel Story

At the June awards meeting when I was giving a report I mentioned that my wife and I would be meeting up with one of Cal Hobel’s (we had just given John Messina the award) 3 daughters that Friday in Seattle. Somebody yelled out to give her a Friendship banner.

My wife, Eileen, went to school in Medfield with Cheryl Hobel (Chuda). We were headed to Seattle to go on a cruise to Alaska and were spending time in Seattle on both ends of the cruise. My wife had stayed in touch with Cheryl, who live just north of Seattle. We planned to meet up with them and spent a day visiting several attractions in Seattle, including the famous Pikes Place Market.

We had a little ceremony and presented Cheryl with the Friendship Banner, of which she was very appreciative. She also was very surprised that it was an annual presentation with the Medfield Lions Club, as she thought it was a one time award years ago.
